Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Constellate ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Constellate is a platform for sharing, exploring, and connecting ideas. The Service uses artificial intelligence to analyze ideas and discover potential connections between them. Features include:

  • Posting and sharing ideas publicly or within private spaces
  • AI-powered discovery of connections between ideas
  • Collaborative spaces for groups and organizations
  • Discussion and feedback on ideas
  • AI-generated insights and analysis

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
  • Be responsible for all activities that occur under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.

4. Your Content

4.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of the ideas and content you post on Constellate ("Your Content"). We do not claim ownership of Your Content.

4.2 License to Us

By posting content on Constellate, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • Host, store, and display Your Content
  • Process Your Content using AI to discover connections and generate insights
  • Share Your Content with other users according to your visibility settings
  • Create derivative analyses (such as connection reasons and insights) based on Your Content
  • Analyze how ideas develop, connect, and evolve for research and platform improvement
  • Use anonymized or aggregated data in academic research and publications

This license continues until you delete Your Content or your account, except for content that has been shared with or copied by other users.

4.3 Public Content

Ideas you post publicly may be viewed, connected to, and discussed by other users. AI-generated connections and insights based on public content may be visible to other users. Consider this before posting sensitive or confidential information.

5. AI Processing

By using Constellate, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Your Content will be processed by artificial intelligence systems to classify ideas, discover connections, and generate insights
  • AI-generated content (such as connection reasons, classifications, and insights) is provided for informational purposes and may not always be accurate
  • We use Anthropic's AI services to process content, subject to their terms and privacy policies
  • You should not rely solely on AI-generated insights for important decisions

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Spam, phish, or engage in other deceptive practices
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Use automated means to access the Service without our permission
  • Collect or harvest user information without consent

7. Spaces

Constellate allows users to create and manage collaborative spaces. If you create or administer a space:

  • You are responsible for managing membership and content within your space
  • You must ensure that invited members agree to these Terms
  • Content posted in private spaces is only visible to space members
  • We may access space content for support, safety, or legal compliance purposes

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and technology (excluding Your Content), is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Service without our written permission.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or useful
  • Connections discovered between ideas will be meaningful or valuable
  • Your Content will be preserved indefinitely

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the Service or sending you an email. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. General

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Switzerland.
